The Dell Latitude E6400 XFR laptop is built to withstand being dropped, stand up against dust damage and high pressure water sprays. It is targeting an audience of military personnel, emergency response units and other professions of such fields. This touch screen laptop will survive through rain and wind up to 70 miles per hour.
The company promises the computer will continue to operate in conditions normally excruciating for most devices and in temperatures from -20 degrees Fahrenheit to as high as 145 degrees Fahrenheit.
The LCD screen is protected from the impact and shock of being dropped as far as four feet or 48 inches when not operational and 36 inches while the machine is on.
The design is actually quite genius as the LCD screen is set to float ever so slightly inside the cover to minimize the impact of any drop or shock. The company offers a 3 year warranty on the product and will replace any cracked screen within those years.
For greater protection against water and dust, this highly durable Dell touch screen laptop comes with fixings for the components such as the card reader and USB ports. These fixings are used to seal the openings and protection against the elements of the external environment.
It weighs about 8 and a half pounds including the six cell battery. The laptop is built around a 14.1 touch screen display and an Intel Core 2 Duo processor.
This miniature rock will be a very high cost $4300 alone in the base configuration.
